When Laura and Pedro reached out to tell us they wanted us to photograph their wedding in Formentera in 2021, we didn’t hesitate for a second. We were excited to travel outside our region, live new experiences, and see different ways of celebrating love. And if the wedding was in the Balearic Islands… even better! We flew to Ibiza with our cameras and backpacks full of excitement, and from there we took a ferry to Formentera, where we spent two magical days.
Getting Ready in a Dreamy Villa
The day started at the stunning villa Somnis, where the couple and their families were staying. It was so heartwarming to see the groom’s mother baking the wedding cake—she’s a professional pastry chef and her work is beautiful. Laura looked radiant in her Otaduy wedding dress, perfect for a beach ceremony: simple, stylish, and full of personality. There were relaxed pool moments, champagne toasts with the women of the family, and heartfelt tears of joy. These intimate moments before the ceremony are something we truly love capturing.
A Magical Beach Ceremony in Formentera
The ceremony took place exactly how one dreams of getting married in Formentera: on the beach, at sunset, with the sound of waves in the background. Go Formentera created a beautiful and minimal setup, and the bride’s cousin officiated a deeply emotional, personalized ceremony. Saying “I do” on the beach, surrounded by loved ones, is a true luxury. And for us, it’s a privilege to document it.
After the ceremony, we captured their wedding portraits in the golden sunset light—for us, one of the most magical times of day to photograph. Then, the couple drove around the island in a Haris and returned to the villa, where the celebration continued. La Sweet Catalina prepared a buffet-style dinner that we loved, with guests choosing what to eat freely. The evening was full of speeches, live performances, and one unforgettable moment: the bride’s father sang a song for their first dance. A memory to treasure forever.
This was our first wedding in the Balearic Islands—and it was even more special than we imagined. Formentera has it all: stunning landscapes, golden light, peace, authenticity, and that irresistible Mediterranean charm.
