Bertille & Arthur’s Château de Saint-Georges Wedding in France
There is something particularly beautiful about a wedding that feels completely rooted in its surroundings.
For Bertille and Arthur, that meant a historic château in the French countryside, a religious ceremony in a small village church, a classic MG B arriving at the church, 210 guests dressed in formal attire, and a celebration that unfolded between the old stone of Château de Saint-Georges and the surrounding fields.
Their wedding took place at Château de Saint-Georges in Saint-Georges-sur-Moulon, near Bourges, in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. It was a day filled with elegant details, meaningful family moments and plenty of space for photographs that felt both editorial and natural.
A French château wedding near Bourges
Château de Saint-Georges sits in the countryside of the Cher, just outside Bourges. The property combines the atmosphere of a historic French château with extensive grounds, gardens and open countryside, creating a setting that works beautifully for a full wedding celebration.
The château itself dates back centuries, with the property built around the remains of an earlier medieval fortress. Today, the estate offers a very different kind of wedding setting from the more famous châteaux of the Loire Valley: quieter, more private and surrounded by the landscape of central France.

Bertille and Arthur’s celebration made the most of that setting. Their guests gathered at the château for the cocktail reception while the couple returned from their ceremony for portraits around the estate.
A meaningful religious ceremony at Saint-Laurent d'Henrichemont
Before the celebrations at the château, Bertille and Arthur were married in a religious ceremony at Saint-Laurent d’Henrichemont, a small church in the nearby village of Henrichemont.
The ceremony was one of the most important parts of the day for them. They wanted to remember not only the atmosphere inside the church, but also the moments immediately around it, including photographs with their parents and family on the church steps.
Arthur arrived with his father in a classic MG B convertible, the same car the couple would later leave in after the ceremony. Bertille arrived shortly afterwards with her father and one of her sisters.
The procession included Arthur and his mother, followed by their parents and nine flower girls and boys, before Bertille entered with her father.
They also chose to exchange personal vows, adding an intimate element to a ceremony surrounded by their closest family and friends.

An embroidered Atelier Blanche wedding dress
Bertille’s bridal look was one of the details that immediately stood out.
Her wedding dress was by Atelier Blanche, with delicate embroidered elements that gave the gown a particularly intricate and considered feel. Rather than relying on excessive embellishment, the details were part of the overall silhouette, creating something that felt feminine, refined and very French.
Her shoes were by Laure de Sagazan, another Parisian bridal house known for its French craftsmanship and understated, poetic approach to bridal fashion.
The combination worked beautifully with the setting of Château de Saint-Georges. The dress had enough detail to be photographed close-up, while its overall silhouette remained elegant against the architecture and countryside.

Getting ready at Château de Saint-Georges
Bertille got ready in one of the château’s large, naturally lit rooms, surrounded by her mother and two sisters.
Meanwhile, Arthur got dressed in the old house on the estate with his brothers, groomsmen and father.
Having both preparations take place within the château grounds created a natural visual connection between the beginning of the day and the reception later on.
The old rooms, natural light and quieter atmosphere of the estate also gave us the opportunity to photograph the smaller details before the celebration became more energetic.
Couple portraits among the château grounds
After the ceremony, Bertille and Arthur returned to Château de Saint-Georges before their guests arrived for the cocktail reception.
This gave us around thirty minutes to photograph them around the estate, using the architecture, stairs and surrounding fields as part of the story.
This is one of the things we particularly love about photographing weddings in French châteaux. The setting can become part of the portrait rather than simply acting as a backdrop.
We moved between the stone architecture of the château and the surrounding countryside, allowing the photographs to feel varied while remaining visually connected.
The result is a mixture of more composed portraits and quieter moments between the two of them, with the landscape of Centre-Val de Loire becoming an important part of the gallery.
An elegant cocktail reception at the château
While Bertille and Arthur were taking their portraits, their guests began arriving at Château de Saint-Georges for the cocktail reception.
With around 210 guests, this was a large celebration, but the atmosphere remained deeply personal. Family and friends were an important part of the day, and group photographs were something the couple specifically wanted to prioritise.
The cocktail reception also became the setting for several family photographs and speeches from their fathers before everyone moved into the marquee for dinner.
The château’s reception spaces made it possible to move naturally between the gardens, the château and the covered dining area, creating different atmospheres throughout the afternoon and evening.

Dinner under the château marquee
Dinner took place beneath the château’s large marquee, surrounded by their guests and speeches from their siblings, bridesmaids and groomsmen.
Rather than having a traditional pièce montée, desserts were served individually. The evening was structured around several speeches, with each part of the dinner bringing another story or message from the people closest to them.
The formal atmosphere of the wedding was balanced by the warmth of these moments. It was elegant without feeling overly staged, and the photographs became as much about the people around the table as the setting itself.
A wedding shaped by family, friendship and tradition
When Bertille and Arthur described what they wanted to remember from their wedding, three things stood out: the religious ceremony, their time together as a couple, and the joy and love surrounding them.
That became a useful guide for us throughout the day.
Alongside the portraits and details, we wanted to leave space for the moments that happened naturally: the reactions during the ceremony, family gathering on the church steps, friends arriving at the château, conversations during the cocktail and the energy of the evening.
